How a Remote Himalayan Football Academy Is Connecting with the Global Game
Humla Soccer Academy: Football at the Top of the World
In the remote Humla region of Nepal, near the Tibetan border and more than 11,000 feet above sea level, Humla Soccer Academy is reshaping grassroots football. Despite challenging conditions and limited resources, this youth football academy is training the next generation of players while building global connections.
A Vision Rooted in the Mountains
Founded by Bravo Romeo, Humla Soccer Academy offers free football training to more than 300 children and teens in one of Nepal’s most isolated areas. But this is more than a sports program. It is a holistic youth development initiative focused on discipline, perseverance, and opportunity.
“Our identity is an integral part of discipline and human life,” Bravo explains. “Football is our foundation, but our goals go far beyond the field.”
The academy teaches more than technique. It builds habits like punctuality, communication, teamwork, and healthy living that prepare young people for life beyond the pitch.
Training at Extreme Altitude
One of the most remarkable aspects of Humla Soccer Academy is its location. Players train at altitudes over 11,000 feet, where stamina and mental toughness are naturally developed. The team even built playing fields where none previously existed.
Despite geographic isolation, the academy’s results are impressive:
1 player selected for Nepal’s women’s national team
10 boys recruited to A Division clubs
6 girls named to provincial teams
Runner-up at the Karnai Provincial Football Tournament
60+ football kits delivered to 23 local schools
Affordable housing created for players from rural villages
A New Digital Home with FTBLRLIFE
While players excelled locally, connecting with the wider football world was difficult. Social media platforms were overwhelming and often off-topic.
“We needed a space that truly understood football,” says Bravo.
That changed when the academy joined FTBLRLIFE, a global community designed for grassroots football. Here, Bravo found a place to share the academy’s story, connect with coaches worldwide, and access resources.
“It feels like family,” Bravo shares. “Even from the Himalayas, we now feel supported and seen.”
Building Global Football Relationships
Bravo has become one of the most active voices in the FTBLRLIFE community, regularly exchanging strategies with coaches from Africa, South America, and beyond.
“Bravo is exactly why we built this platform,” says FTBLRLIFE founder David Clarke. “He proves that impact is not limited by geography.”
The platform is also working to find a sister academy for Humla to deepen global partnerships.
From Football to Education and Community
The academy’s impact stretches far beyond athletics. It provides educational support for promising youth, offers coaching help to local schools, and acts as a hub for mentorship and growth.
With FTBLRLIFE support, Humla Soccer Academy will soon receive Foundation Balls to enhance training for hundreds of players. These connections are opening new doors and demonstrating the power of global community.
“We are only beginning,” says Bravo. “With FTBLRLIFE, we are growing stronger every day.”
