In the world of youth football, few stories are as powerful and inspiring as that of Bernardo Gama. His journey spans continents and challenges, blending technical development, family bonds, and unshakable faith. What makes Bernardo’s story unique is not just his talent, but the resilience and support that have carried him through each stage of his career.
A Football Dream Takes Root in Belgium
Bernardo’s football path began in 2016 when his father, Francisco, accepted a job with Aperam Châtelet in Belgium. The family’s international move created an unexpected opportunity for Bernardo to pursue his dream.

“During this transition between countries, I asked my father to enroll me in a football academy,” Bernardo says. He began with futsal at Futsal Team Charleroi, where he spent three years mastering the technical skills that would define his style of play.
Soon, he moved from futsal to traditional football with PacBuzet, then advanced to the youth academy of Belgian first-division club Oud-Heverlee Leuven (OHL).
“After two weeks of tryouts, I was approved. I was very happy that it was my first professional team,” Bernardo shares.

A Return to Brazil and New Opportunities
In 2022, the family returned to Brazil when Francisco took a new role at Aperam Timóteo. Back in Minas Gerais, Bernardo joined RPS Football Academy in Ipatinga. His skills quickly caught attention, resulting in tryouts with several clubs.
The breakthrough came in October 2023, when Bernardo joined Coritiba FC’s Under-15 squad.
“We chose Coritiba because their philosophy focuses on technique and skill rather than size or strength,” he explains.

Facing Physical Challenges with Determination
Bernardo’s biggest challenge has been delayed growth development. Despite turning 15 in June 2025, he is physically smaller than his peers, a fact that has tested his resilience on the field.
“My biggest challenges in football are related to height and strength,” he says. “I need to train and dedicate myself much more, but I also know that if I don’t, I will never get there.”
His story is reminiscent of Lionel Messi’s early journey, showing that physical setbacks don’t have to limit potential.
Faith as the Foundation
Bernardo draws daily strength from his Christian faith, which guides his mindset both on and off the pitch.
“I am an Evangelical Christian, and I know that God has a purpose in my life. I can glorify His name through football,” he says.
He prays before every match and training session, asking for calm and focus. His faith helps him stay grounded and resilient.

The FTBLRLIFE Community Connection
Bernardo is one of the earliest members of the FTBLRLIFE global football community. His standout technical skills quickly earned him the Goal of the Month award, which boosted his confidence and visibility.
“When Bernardo won that Goal of the Month award, it wasn’t just about the prize,” says David Clarke, Founder of FTBLRLIFE. “It was about him feeling seen by a global community.”
When Bernardo’s family had questions about agents, FTBLRLIFE team member Joe Elsmore used his contacts in Los Angeles to offer trusted advice—demonstrating the power of a truly connected football network.
Father-Son Bond Through Football Content

One of the most compelling aspects of Bernardo’s story is his collaborative content with his father. Their technical challenge videos have connected them with players and coaches around the world.
“Bernardo posts amazing technical challenges, and he has always enjoyed creating content with his father,” Clarke shares. “It’s a beautiful example of football as a bonding experience.”
These videos are more than just highlights—they’re a digital diary of growth, passion, and community impact.
What’s Next for Bernardo Gama?
While the future is uncertain, Bernardo’s foundation is strong: years of skill development, unwavering family support, deep faith, and a global network cheering him on.
“I cannot say what my journey will be,” he says. “But I will do everything possible to become a professional football player and a servant of the living God.”
His story represents everything FTBLRLIFE stands for: connecting football people across borders and empowering talent with support, visibility, and purpose.
“Bernardo reminds us that football changes lives,” Clarke says. “Not just through contracts or trophies, but through confidence, character, and connection.”
