Somali Youth Open Organization

@Somaliyouthopen

The SOYO workshop in Mogadishu is dedicated to empowering young people, particularly those facing social and economic challenges, including discrimination, exclusion, and limited opportunities in rural areas. By providing a platform for skill development, inspiration, and collaboration, SOYO helps youth overcome obstacles and become agents of positive change in their communities.

Aimed at empowering Change Makers aged 15-35, the workshop was a resounding success—filled with creativity, teamwork, and a shared passion for social innovation. Participants engaged in dynamic discussions, practical exercises, and networking opportunities, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.

One of the key sessions introduced attendees to Social Innovation and its significance in addressing contemporary challenges in Somalia. This session ignited a spark in participants, encouraging them to explore ways they could drive meaningful impact in their local communities.

The highlight of the workshop was an interactive brainstorming session, where participants were divided into small groups to identify pressing social issues that resonated with them. This collaborative exercise allowed individuals to exchange ideas, share experiences, and develop innovative solutions to address challenges such as youth unemployment, education access, gender equality, and social inclusion.

Through this initiative, SOYO continues to empower young leaders, equipping them with the skills and mindset needed to create sustainable change in Somalia. The workshop not only fostered personal growth but also laid the foundation for impactful community projects led by passionate and motivated youth.
